Virginia Beach, VA (PRWEB) March 2, 2009 -- Child Safety House Calls announces four new recipients of their Award of Excellence. After a thorough evaluation by pediatricians who specialize in the field of child safety, these winners were selected for their innovation in helping parents keep their children safe. The winners are BreathableBaby® Breathable Bumper mesh crib bumper, Infant CPR Anytime™ DVD-based training, InstantAmber™ on-line storage of children's identifying information, and DigitSaver™ door pinch guard.

"These products can prevent so many of the tragedies I see everyday in the emergency room," says pediatric emergency medicine physician Dr. Joel Clingenpeel. Nationally a child is treated in the emergency department for an unintentional injury approximately every ninety seconds(1). "I want every parent to take action rather than leave their children's safety to chance."

Child Safety House Calls is a pediatrician-managed organization whose mission includes injury prevention advocacy and childproofing promotion. The organization established the Award of Excellence to keep parents informed of the best child safety products and services. Criteria for their experts' selections include: effectiveness, innovation, ease of use, durability, breadth of target audience, and professional experience with the product. Child Safety House Calls continually seeks new child safety aids worthy of the Award of Excellence. The organization receives no compensation in exchange for its selections. Congratulations to these fours winners for their contributions to child safety:

BreathableBaby® Breathable Bumpers Mesh Crib Bumpers

Many parents choose to line their infants' cribs with bumpers despite the risk of suffocation and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The patented Breathable Bumpers mesh crib bumpers provide a safer alternative to traditional bumpers by allowing infants who become trapped against the bumper to breathe through the fabric. BreathableBaby's exclusive fabric with Sure-Breathe Technology helps maintain air access and reduces risks of suffocation. Visit www.breathablebaby.com for more in formation.

Infant CPR Anytime™

Infant CPR training is now convenient for virtually everyone with Infant CPR Anytime™ training. Caregivers can train themselves in proper infant resuscitation in their own home with a 22 minute DVD and reusable training manikin. The product was developed in coordination with the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics using the technology of Laerdal Medical. For more information visit www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3045660.

InstantAmber™

InstantAmber™ has created an on-line storage service to allow parents to rapidly respond in the event of a missing child. All of a child's identifying information including photos is stored securely for instant submission to authorities. Visit www.instantamber.com for more information.

Digitsaver™

Digitsaver™ pinch guards prevent doors from slamming on children's fingers. With the appearance of stuffed animals, these devices attach to door knobs and block doors from closing completely. For more information visit www.digitsaver.com.
